Russian drone attacks killed one person and wounded four in Kharkiv, while Ukrainian drones struck the Russian city of Belgorod overnight, killing one person and injuring ten, according to Sky TG24. The strikes came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian attacks are causing deaths and injuries in Ukraine "almost every day," citing overnight losses in the Dnipro region.
Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov said the Russian drone attack on his city on Saturday evening left one dead and four wounded, Sky TG24 reported. On the Russian side, Belgorod recorded one death and ten injuries from Ukrainian drone strikes during the night, according to the same outlet.
Why it matters
The exchange of strikes shows that, nearly five years into the full-scale war, neither side has halted attacks on the other's territory, and civilians continue to bear the cost. It also comes as diplomatic signals emerge: Moscow says it is prepared to resume three-way talks on Ukraine after November 4, the date Russia marks National Unity Day.
Zelensky, in comments reported by Sky TG24, said four people were killed in the Dnipro region on Saturday evening and another 22 were wounded, including an 11-year-old girl. He also reported that a Russian drone hit a multi-storey residential building in Vinnytsia, in south-western Ukraine, injuring six people.
Overnight barrage and damage in Vinnytsia
Ukraine's military said Russia launched 153 attack drones against the country overnight, including Shahed-type drones, S8000 Banderol/Dan-T models, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones, according to Sky TG24. Preliminary figures cited by the outlet put the number of drones shot down or neutralised by air defences at 119.
In Vinnytsia, a Russian drone struck a five-storey residential building, injuring six people, Sky TG24 reported, citing RBC-Ukraine and Natalya Zabolotna, head of the Vinnytsia regional administration. The impact damaged the building between the second and third floors, completely destroyed four apartments and damaged parked cars nearby, according to the same reporting. One person was taken to hospital.
Zabolotna said the wider region also saw destruction of critical and civilian infrastructure and damage to private homes, and that the attack caused a partial blackout, Sky TG24 reported.
Starlink dispute and diplomatic signals
Elon Musk said on X that Ukraine's military had breached Starlink's terms of service by using the satellite system for drone attacks "to kill people," and that the gap had been closed the previous week, according to Sky TG24. Ukraine said on Saturday that Starlink and its military variant, Starshield, were fully operational again after more than a week of restrictions, the outlet reported.
On the diplomatic track, Yuri Ushakov, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin, told the Vesti news agency that Moscow would be ready to restart trilateral negotiations after November 4, Sky TG24 reported. Ushakov had earlier said Abu Dhabi was being considered as a possible venue for three-way consultations.
Putin, in an interview with Vesti, dismissed accusations that Russia is orchestrating unrest and protests in Europe, saying such claims show the weakness of European politicians and their unwillingness to take responsibility for current events, according to Sky TG24. "Russia has always been blamed for every deadly sin," he was quoted as saying.
Separately, Zelensky told the European Council that the war against Russia will cost 155 billion euros next year and that a contribution of 70 billion euros will be needed, Sky TG24 reported in its "Numeri" segment.
What to watch: whether the trilateral talks Moscow says it is ready to resume after November 4 materialise, and whether Abu Dhabi is confirmed as the venue.
